Your 5-Day Azerbaijan Itinerary at a Glance

Day 1 — Arrival in Baku, City & Old City

We collect you from Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) and transfer you to your hotel. The Baku City Tour covers Highland Park, the Seaside Boulevard, Mini Venice and the Heydar Aliyev Center, before we step into the walled Old City (Icherisheher) — the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the old caravanserais.

Day 2 — The Land of Fire: Absheron & Gobustan

Today reveals why Azerbaijan is the Land of Fire. We visit the Ateshgah Fire Temple at Surakhani and the eternal flames of Yanardag, then drive south to Gobustan for its UNESCO prehistoric petroglyphs and the surreal bubbling mud volcanoes.

Day 3 — Shamakhi & Gabala

We head north-west into the mountains, stopping at the ancient Shamakhi Juma Mosque before reaching Gabala — Nohur Lake, the Seven Beauties waterfall and an optional Tufandag cable car ride for sweeping Caucasus views. Overnight in Gabala.

Day 4 — Sheki, the Silk Road Jewel

A scenic drive brings us to Sheki: the UNESCO Khan's Palace with its shebeke stained glass, the Silk Road caravanserai and old town, and the ancient Kish church. Try the famous Sheki halva before an overnight in Sheki or Gabala.

Day 5 — Guba, Khinalig & Departure

For a spectacular finale we climb to Khinalig (Xınalıq), a UNESCO village above 2,300 metres, via Guba, the Red Settlement and the dramatic Qudyalchay canyon. We then return to Baku, with two flexible departure options:

  • Option A — same-day departure: we transfer you to the airport on return for a late-evening flight.
  • Option B — extra night: overnight in Baku and an airport transfer the next morning — recommended after this full mountain day.
