Day 1 — Baku City & Old City

Your 5 days begin with hotel pickup in central Baku — come and go on your own flights, before or after the tour. The Baku City Tour covers Highland Park, the Seaside Boulevard, Mini Venice and the Heydar Aliyev Center, before we step into the walled Old City (Icherisheher) — the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the old caravanserais.

Day 2 — The Land of Fire: Absheron & Gobustan

Today reveals why Azerbaijan is the Land of Fire. We visit the Ateshgah Fire Temple at Surakhani and the eternal flames of Yanardag, then drive south to Gobustan for its UNESCO prehistoric petroglyphs and the surreal bubbling mud volcanoes. Overnight in Baku.

Day 3 — Shamakhi & Gabala: Juma Mosque & the Tufandag Cable Car

We head north-west into the mountains, stopping at the historic Shamakhi Juma Mosque en route, then continuing to Gabala for the Tufandag cable car and the Seven Beauties waterfall (nearby Nohur Lake is temporarily closed). Private booking exclusive: the Yeddi Gumbaz (Seven Domes) mausoleum in Shamakhi, visited only on a fully private booking of this 5-day tour. Overnight in Gabala: accommodation is not included in the tour price and is booked directly by the traveler (we're happy to recommend options).

Day 4 — Sheki, the Silk Road Jewel

A scenic drive brings us to Sheki, where we visit, in order: the UNESCO Sheki Khan's Palace with its shebeke stained glass, the historic Sheki Caravanserai, Panoramic Park for sweeping views over the town, the Sheki Sweet House for the famous local halva, and the Alban Kish Church — one of the oldest churches in the Caucasus. Optional: a piti lunch, Sheki's signature slow-cooked lamb-and-chestnut stew, served in its own clay pot. Private booking exclusive: a visit to the Sheki Silk Factory shop. We then drive back to Baku for the night.

Day 5 — Khizi & Guba (Shahdag)

We head north along the Caspian coastal highway toward Guba, passing the striped "Candy Cane" mountains of Khizi (viewed from the road), then arrive in Guba, gateway to Shahdag, Azerbaijan's tallest peak, and visit the Red Settlement (Qırmızı Qəsəbə) and the old town. Private booking exclusive: hiking to the summit of Beshbarmag Mountain — not just viewing it from the road — is available only on a fully private booking of this 5-day tour. We then return to Baku.
