What is the road into Lahij actually like?
Sealed but narrow, cut into the gorge wall with limited passing places, and slow. Our drivers know it. In heavy rain or snow conditions can change, and we will tell you honestly on the morning if it is not sensible.
Can we visit Lahij and return to Baku the same day?
Yes, but it is a long day — roughly six hours of driving plus your time in the village. Add at least three hours of waiting so the visit does not feel rushed.
Do we need a 4x4?
Not in normal conditions; the road is paved. In winter we may recommend a higher vehicle depending on the forecast, and we will say so before you travel rather than on the day.
Is there anything worth stopping for on the way?
The Diri Baba mausoleum and the Zernava suspension bridge are both close to the route. Mention them when you book and the driver plans the stops into the timing.
