A private transfer south to Lankaran — about 270 km and nearly four hours down the Caspian coast into Azerbaijan's subtropical corner.

The south is a different country climatically: tea plantations, humid green hills and the Talysh mountains rising behind the town. Lankaran is also the gateway to Lerik, which is a further mountain leg again.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive?
Close to four hours for about 270 km, mostly on good coastal highway. It is a long but easy drive with none of the mountain sections that slow the northern routes.
Can we continue to Lerik?
Yes, but treat it as a separate leg — Lerik is higher, further and much slower. If Lerik is the real destination, book Baku to Lerik directly and we will price the whole journey.
Is it worth an overnight?
For most people yes. Eight hours of driving in a day leaves little time for the tea country, Khanbulan Lake or the Hirkan forest.
What is the weather like compared with Baku?
Wetter and greener year-round, and noticeably milder in winter. It rains more here than anywhere else in the country, which is exactly why the tea grows.
