Azerbaijan Bike Tours

Our bike tours in Azerbaijan start in Baku and come in three formats: a daytime city ride of 3–3.5 hours and 15–20 km for ₼50, a 3-hour evening ride of 18 km under the lit skyline for ₼100, and a full-day ride through the Gobustan semi-desert south of the city for ₼200, with 25–35 km in the saddle and transport there and back. Each one is a group departure priced per person, led by a guide who speaks English or Russian.
What cycling in and around Baku is like
Central Baku suits a bicycle better than most visitors expect. The Boulevard follows the Caspian shore, so a large part of any city route is flat, wide and open to the sea. Between the seafront, the Old City walls and the newer districts the distances are a little too long for a relaxed walk and a little too short to bother with a taxi — which is exactly the gap a bike fills.
The Old City is the one place where the pace changes. Its lanes are narrow, partly cobbled and shared with people on foot, so the guide takes the group through some stretches walking, with the bikes wheeled alongside.
Outside the city the picture is completely different. Gobustan is open, dry semi-desert with very little shade, wide views and long gaps between landmarks. The riding there is longer and rated easy to moderate rather than easy.
Which of the three rides to pick
- First visit, daylight, the main sights in one go — the Baku bike tour: Boulevard, Mini Venice, the Carpet Museum building, the Old City, the Flame Towers view and White City.
- The city as the lights come on — the Baku evening bike tour, which sets off before sunset and adds Crystal Hall to the route. Bike lights and a reflective vest come with it.
- Out of town, rock art and mud volcanoes — the Gobustan bike tour from Baku, open to riders from age 12.
Every ride includes the bicycle, a helmet, the guide, bottled water, technical support on the way and a first-aid kit. Children are welcome if they already ride confidently — from 8 on the two city rides, from 12 in Gobustan — and pay the same price as adults. When you book, tell us each rider's height so the frame size is right. Food, café stops and entrance tickets are paid by you on the day.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be fit for a bike tour in Baku?
Not especially. The city ride and the evening ride are rated easy: 15–20 km and 18 km, with stops along the way and a pace set for the whole group. The Gobustan ride is longer, 25–35 km in open semi-desert, and rated easy to moderate, so it suits people who already ride now and then.
Is a bicycle provided, or do I need my own?
No. A bicycle and a helmet are part of every tour, together with the guide, bottled water, technical support on the ride and a first-aid kit. The evening ride adds bike lights and a reflective vest. Tell us each rider's height when you book so the frame size is right.
Can children join the bike tours?
Yes, if they already ride confidently. The two Baku rides take children from age 8 and the Gobustan ride from age 12. Children pay the same price as adults, because they get the same bike, helmet and support.
Which bike tour should I choose?
For a first visit in daylight, the Baku city ride takes in the seafront, the walled old town and the view of the three towers in 3–3.5 hours. For the skyline after dark, take the evening ride, which starts before sunset. To leave the city and see the Gobustan rock art and mud volcanoes, take the full-day Gobustan ride.
Are food and entrance tickets included?
No. Coffee and café stops, lunch on the Gobustan day and any museum or reserve tickets are paid by you on the day. Bottled water is included on every ride.
How do I book one of the longer rides on request?
The Khizi, Shahdili, Nabran, cycling-and-yoga and private rides are not on the online calendar. Send us a message through the contact page or WhatsApp saying when you travel and how many of you are riding, and we reply with what can be arranged. The three tours above can be booked online with a date.
