How We Collect Reviews

Reviews on Tourister.az are written by the people who travelled with us. This page explains where they come from, what we do with them, and why the number on a tour page is smaller than the number of guests we have actually carried.

Anyone who travelled with us can leave a review

You do not need to have booked through this website. The review form sits on every tour page and is open to anyone who was on the tour — including the many guests who booked over WhatsApp, by phone, through their hotel, or at our desk in Baku. Most large review platforms work the same way, because requiring a purchase on one particular channel would exclude most real customers.

We ask our guests in person at the end of the tour. We never pay for a review, and we never offer a discount, a gift or anything else in exchange for one.

Why there are fewer reviews here than travellers

Most of our guests book through a marketplace — GetYourGuide, Viator, Tripster, Sputnik, Supertours, Youtravel.me, TourHQ and others — and they leave their review there, where they paid. Others write on Google or TripAdvisor without booking through either. A review belongs to the platform that collected it and cannot be moved here, so what you see on this site is only the part written directly to us.

So read the count on a tour page as a floor rather than a total. A tour with twenty reviews here has usually carried many times that number of people.

Moderation

Every submitted review is held before it appears, and is checked for spam, abuse, and reviews that clearly do not describe a tour of ours. A review is never rejected or removed for being critical — a low rating is exactly the information the next traveller needs, and hiding it would make every other rating on this site worth less.

Reviews from other platforms

Occasionally we republish a review that was written elsewhere. When we do, it is labelled with the platform it came from, and it is excluded from the star rating shown on the tour page. Only reviews written to us directly count towards our own rating.

This is deliberate. A business may mark up the reviews it collected itself; ratings gathered on someone else's platform belong to that platform, and folding them into our own number would misrepresent both.

What the rating on a tour page means

The star rating on each tour is the average of the reviews left with us for that tour. Underneath it we publish the full breakdown — how many reviews sit at five stars, four, three, two and one, including the values with none at all. Nothing is filtered out of that calculation, and the bars always add up to the count beside the rating.

Something wrong with a review?

If you believe a review is inaccurate, or you wrote one and want it corrected or taken down, message us on WhatsApp using the green button on any page, or email info@tourister.az. Tell us which tour it concerns and roughly when you posted it.
