Azerbaijan Nature Tours
14 tours · 507 traveller reviews · local guides
Azerbaijan nature tours by Tourister take you out of the city and into the country's astonishing range of landscapes: bubbling mud volcanoes, mountain lakes, waterfalls and the wild Caspian coast. Small groups, local guides and transport from Baku are included on every tour.
Why Azerbaijan is a nature destination
Few countries pack this much natural variety into such a small area: semi-desert badlands with the world's largest concentration of mud volcanoes, subtropical forest and waterfalls around Lerik and Lankaran, wetlands and coastal steppe on the Absheron peninsula, and the high Greater Caucasus rising above it all. You can visit a genuinely different ecosystem every single day from the same Baku hotel.
Types of nature tours we run
- Geological wonders — the bubbling Gobustan mud volcanoes and the natural gas flame of Yanardag, the eternal burning mountain
- Mountain lakes & forests — the Garanohur Lake forest trail and the wider Gabala & Shamakhi countryside
- Animal encounters — spend a morning horseback riding near Baku
- Caspian coast & islands — the beaches and oil-era history of Gala, Zira & Pirallahi
- Waterfalls — the Lerik waterfalls and the wider Lankaran & Lerik region
Want serious trekking on your own two feet, or a highland village and red mountainsides on four wheels? See our hiking tours and jeep tours — this page focuses on easier, mostly drive-and-stop nature experiences suited to any fitness level, including families with young children.

Prices & what's included
Most nature day trips run from around 25–90 AZN per person, with transport from Baku, a guide and, on animal-encounter tours, all feeding and photo opportunities included. Exact pricing and group sizes are shown on each tour page below.
Best season
Spring and autumn (April–May, September–October) bring the most comfortable temperatures for outdoor visits. Summer is fine for coastal and lowland tours; winter is quieter but the mud volcanoes and Yanardag run year-round.
